In 2015, the Heads of State and Government of 193 countries of the United Nations signed a new development agenda for 2030. This agenda defines 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 169 targets and more than 200 indicators. Implementation of these SDGs has three main dimensions: development policy conduct, resource mobilization and monitoring and evaluation. For the monitoring and evaluation dimension, countries were recommended by the group of experts in the field to produce the report on the baseline situation of these SDGs, with baseline as the year 2016. Also, the National Institute of Statistics (NSI) coordinating structure of the National Statistical System (NSS) and responsible for the monitoring and evaluation dimension, organized a workshop for the development of the baseline situation of SDGs in Cameroon from 28 June to 01 July 2017. This workshop was attended by more than a dozen Sector Administrations invited in view of their direct involvement in the policies related to the SDGs.

The work was opened by Mr OKOUDA Barnabé, Executive Director of CAMERCAP-PARC. He thanked the participants for their presence and presented the objective of the workshop which is to describe the reference situation of the SDGs in Cameroon.

The restitution of key recommendations has been the subject of discussion groups included in the attached report.
